Hurricane Patricia is the largest recorded hurricane in the western hemisphere to hit land. A category 5 it doesn’t get any bigger than this with winds in excess of 200mph. However, the power of Patricia weakened considerably as it endured over Mexico’s rugged terrain, in addition the winds weakened considerably within a short distance from the epicentre. The Hurricane swept across more rural areas of Mexico sparing highly densely populated areas but many villages and homes took a lot of damage. So far there have been no reports of any deaths.
